Application Note: Troubleshooting of an IEX purification

Neomycin is an antibiotic obtained by fermentation and contains 2 isomers: B & C.

The goal of the separation of interest is to isolate isomer B to obtain Framycetin. Due to economic pressure, a cheaper source of Neomycin (containing sulfate) was bought. Since a cationic resin was used, no impact of sulfate was expected. However, separation could not be obtained anymore!
