Our Team
A team built on diverse, complementary expertise
Our team brings together highly qualified professionals in process engineering, chemistry, biotechnology, and software engineering. All members of the management team hold MSc and/or PhD degrees, reflecting a strong foundation in both industry and academia.
What sets us apart is the way we bridge disciplines — combining molecule specialists with simulation experts, scientists with software developers — creating a unique blend of industrial know-how and research excellence.
Through active partnerships with universities, clusters, and trusted collaborators, we ensure Ypso-Facto’s expertise remains at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation.
Meet the team
Lucrèce NICOUD
Co-CEO, Ypso-FactoLucrèce Nicoud is a (bio)chemical engineer specializing in process modeling and separation science. She graduated from ENSIC (Nancy, France) with a major in chemical engineering and obtained her PhD from ETH Zurich (Switzerland) in 2015, where her research focused on the stability of therapeutic proteins.
She then continued at ETH Zurich as a postdoctoral fellow, working on the modeling of chromatographic systems, both single- and multi-column. During this time, she co-authored the book Continuous Biopharmaceutical Processes: Chromatography, Bioconjugation and Protein Stability (Cambridge University Press, 2018). Lucrèce later joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, Cambridge, USA), where she conducted research in pharmaceutical crystallization.
Lucrèce joined Ypso-Facto in 2018. After contributing extensively to both scientific consulting and software development, she now serves as Co-CEO alongside Edouard Nicoud, leading the company’s scientific and technological strategy at the crossroads of chemistry, biotechnology, and digital innovation.
Edouard NICOUD
Co-CEO, Ypso-FactoEdouard Nicoud holds a Diplôme d’ingénieur in Mechanical Engineering from ENSEM (École Nationale Supérieure d’Électricité et de Mécanique), completed in 2013. He then pursued a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich (2013–2014), followed by a PhD in Physical Sciences from CentraleSupélec (2014–2017).
He began his professional career in 2014 as a Doctoral Researcher at IFP Énergies Nouvelles, working on combustion stability modeling in collaboration with Daimler AG and École Centrale Paris, employing Large-Eddy Simulation techniques. He later joined Safran Aircraft Engines in 2018 as a Combustion Methods Engineer, focusing on combustion stability and related industrial methods.
Edouard joined Ypso-Facto in 2019, initially as a Software Developer, before taking on roles in business development and customer success. Over time, he assumed increasing leadership responsibilities, and since March 2025, he has shared the company’s direction with Lucrèce Nicoud as Co-CEO.
As Co-CEO, Edouard leads Ypso-Facto’s operational strategy, client engagement, and the commercialization of technical innovations. He ensures that the company’s scientific and software capabilities remain tightly aligned with market needs in the biopharmaceutical and chemical industries. Edouard is also active in industry forums, emphasizing the importance of integrating predictive modeling, experimental data, and human expertise to achieve robust and scalable bioprocesses.
Roger-Marc NICOUD
Founder & Board Member, Ypso-FactoRoger-Marc Nicoud, Founder and Board Member of Ypso-Facto, has built a distinguished career as an entrepreneur and innovator in the life sciences and chemical engineering industries.
In 1995, he founded Novasep with a visionary goal: to provide comprehensive and integrated solutions for the production of biological and synthetic molecules. As President and CEO until 2012, he led the company’s transformation from a 10-person startup into an international group employing more than 1,300 people and generating €300 million in annual revenue. He is also the author of Chromatographic Processes – Modeling, Simulation, and Design (Cambridge University Press, 2015), a key reference in the field.
In July 2015, Roger-Marc founded Ypso-Facto, a company dedicated to helping industrial firms develop, optimize, and secure their chemical and bioprocesses. Drawing on his entrepreneurial vision and scientific expertise, he continues to contribute to Ypso-Facto’s strategic direction as a member of its Board of Directors, supporting the company’s ongoing growth at the crossroads of chemistry, biotechnology, and digital innovation.
