Model fundamentals of bioreactor 

The current state of the art to model USP is to rely either on Monod-like kinetics or purely data driven approaches. However, both of these approaches fall short in terms of predictive capabilities. We have developed an innovative mechanistic model that leverages four key physico-chemical phenomena: 

  1. The entry and exit of substrates and products (transfer across cell membrane). 
  2. The reactions inside the cell. 
  3. Cell growth and cell division. 
  4. Cell death. 

Each phenomenon is then adapted to the organism of interest, CHO or E. Coli. For instance, the exit of the product can be deactivated in the case of E. Coli inclusion bodies.
