FCCat 2025 : French Conference on Catalysis
19-23 May 2025, Ronce-les-Bains
From May 19 to 23, 2025, Kilian Kobl took part in the FCCat 2025 congress in Ronce-les-Bains, where he delivered a keynote talk entitled “Modeling bioprocesses in chemical engineering”.
He presented a structured approach to mechanistic model development, illustrated through two case studies:
- Enzymatic isomerization of glucose to fructose
- Enzymatic conversion of phosphatidylcholine (PC) into lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC)
In both examples, the models were used to:
- Capture key thermodynamic, kinetic, and hydrodynamic phenomena
- Simulate transitions from batch to continuous processes
- Identify optimization strategies
These case studies highlight how mechanistic modeling can accelerate process development, reduce experimental workload, and provide deeper insight into complex biochemical systems.
